Students and staff pose for a group photo in front of the Rockefeller Christmas Tree in NYC

On December 20th & 21st REACH Academy's art teacher, Ms. Mossa, took her students to visit the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan. The class walked into rooms that focused on Del Toro’s first stop-motion animated feature, an innovative reinterpretation of Carlo Collodi’s 1883 children’s novel. The class also experienced being on a movie set and saw first-hand how an international team of designers, craftspeople, and animation artists collaborated to realize a vision. It included production art, props, and a look at various phases of puppet-making. They viewed working film sets and time-lapse video, peeked inside installations that document the process that brought the story’s characters (and ART) to life!

The Modern Museum of Art showed (even the art teacher) the vastness of creativity. The art classes are looking forward to more field trips in 2023!
