Dr. Robin Levine has been selected as this year’s recipient of the NYCASE Special Education Administrator of the Year Award. She was honored in Albany, NY recently at the organization’s Annual Summer Institute.
Greenburgh North Castle School District’s Director of Pupil Personnel Services, Dr. Robin Levine, was nominated by her Superintendent Dr. Carolyn McGuffog and selected for the Special Education Administrator of the Year by the New York Council of Administrators of Special Education (NYCASE). Dr. Levine was among a select pool of highly qualified and highly regarded Special Education administrators from across New York State who were nominated for this prestigious career achievement award.

As a Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Director in a special act school district, Dr. Robin Levine is an unsung hero. She has worked tirelessly for over 20 years in an underfunded district… She has grown Greenburgh North Castle's (GNC) clinical department from fewer than a handful of individuals … to an entire team of clinicians and related service providers who deliver evidenced-based interventions and lead district-wide social emotional learning initiatives. She genuinely cares about our 500 disenfranchised, disabled students, many of whom are students of color from impoverished backgrounds. I quickly recognized that she is the glue that has held this 'unique', financially fragile school district together. Single-handedly, with literally no professional development budget, she has managed to train her staff in evidenced-based practices including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Collaborative Problem Solving, Restorative Justice, principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, as well as the Orton Gillingham approach. Additionally, she has supported her staff in the district-wide implementation of a Social Emotional Learning curriculum (donated to our district) that has changed our school culture. I truly cannot imagine a more deserving, highly qualified candidate for NYCASE's Special Education Administrator of the Year Award” states Superintendent Dr. McGuffog, referring to Dr. Levine’s service.
NYCASE is a statewide professional organization of special education administrators dedicated to advocacy on policy issues that benefit students with disabilities and their families and providing professional development and networking for its members.
